8m

A new Florida law requires high school student athletes to have an electro-cardiogram to test their heart before they can participate in sports. The "Second Chance Act," was named for high school senior Chance Gainer, who died on a football field two years ago from an undetected heart condition. WGCU's Amanda Inscore-Whittamore brings the story of one athlete whose life may have been saved by this test. Followed by a conversation with WGCU’s Jennifer Crawford and Dr. Joe Pepe from the Florida Department of Health about what students and parents can expect when getting an EKG.
